Critical Countdown

| Monday, April 6, 2009
The countdown until production on Two Minutes Till Tomorrow is nearing its end. With two and a half weeks left on the production calendar, the Critical Mass Development Team is heavily play-testing and polishing the final product.

The game has really evolved since its preliminary stages back in October. Here is a screenshot of the opening menu:

From there, you will be able to do a variety of things. Continue allows you to open up a save file, which in turn, lets you replay unlocked levels as well as continue the story. Options will allow you to tailor the game to your liking. This could mean toggling music options, color-blind options, and other things to make the game more enjoyable for you, the player.

The New Game will thrust you into the world of Two Minutes Till Tomorrow. You immediately arrive at The Factory, where Captain Face has laid out various traps along the way, hoping to divert your quest to stop him. Here is a picture of one of his deadliest traps--the cloud:

However, Captain Face must not have realized the power that Jack possesses within his Continuum. With the Continuum, Jack is able to manipulate Captain Face's own traps against him. Platforms that Captain Face altered to hinder Jack's way can help Jack by altering the platform's movement in time. Here is a picture of Jack reversing time on a box that had just fallen:

Throughout the game, you may notice a few recurring themes. One of which is the use of color. Though sparse, color is found in key areas. Objects in Red signify moving back in time, while Blue signify moving forward in time. There are plenty of other subtleties found within the game, and we at Critical Mass hope you enjoy them.

With Critical Mass's recent project coming to a close, we are already planning and brainstorming new ideas for our upcoming project. We are also expanding our team, to help create a game that our fans will come to really know and love. We are all very excited, and we plan to keep you all involved, in one way or another. Visit our forums and give us any type of questions, comments, or ideas!

Critical Beta

| Wednesday, March 18, 2009
Two Minutes Till Tomorrow has reached its Beta stage!

Currently, it has a variety of levels, consisting of small, tutorial levels as well as challenging, experienced levels. It also has an interactive main menu, where you turn the hands of a clock to the specific options. The art style is something that has remained throughout the stages of Two Minutes. But for Beta, we have some exciting news... The art style now consists of animations! Now, you can watch Jack walk, push blocks, and jump!

Aside from the unique art style, we've added some music tracks that really makes the game more aesthetically appealing! The audio files may get you pumped to play, but it gets taken to a whole new level when you activate your time powers. For example, when you use your Half-Time power of the Continuum, not only does the object move in half-time, but the music runs in half-time!

A fun new addition is a new object to the world of Two Minutes Till Tomorrow: the conveyor belt. The conveyor belt adds a degree of difficulty in completing puzzles, because when your velocity is altered, it could very well be the difference from life and death! The fun thing is, not only are you affected by the conveyor belt, but so are the other objects that fall onto the belts--mainly, boxes! Then, you can use those boxes, activate your Reverse-Time power, and ride the box back across the belt!

Beta has been a huge leap from Alpha, so expect a lot more depth and fun coming with Gold in a month!

The Critical Story

This website contains information regarding the upcoming Critical Mass title, Two Minutes Till Tomorrow.  However, you may be wondering what exactly Two Minutes Till Tomorrow is about.  In this post, I will attempt to give you a glimpse into the world of Jack Cabbage.

A daunting evil is looming over the citizens of a local community.  While some simply let the foreseeable future take it's presumable course, others decide to combat that which threatens their lives.  The members dedicated to stand up for their community have formed an organized militia.  One day, the militiant leader, Olga, feels the impending capture of their current lifestyles is becoming too strong and in order to preserve order, the militia needs to go on the offense.  With this decision, she tasks our protagonist, Jack Cabbage, to take on the center and cause of the unsettlement, The Factory.

However, Jack drastically underestimated the influence and power that The Factory enforced.  Upon reaching The Factory, Jack is immediately subdued by a cadre of masked creatures, neither human nor beast.  After regaining consciousness, Jack finds himself inside a bright, white room with no windows, doors, furniture, or any other significant features--the kind of room that makes the calmest of people drained of their sanity.
